Job overview

Hours: 28.75 / Term Time only /Permanent

Required for October 2018

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hard-working Teaching Assistant to join our academy as soon as possible on a term time only permanent contract.

De Warenne Academy is a rapidly improving school. We have the highest ambitions for all and work closely in partnership with parents and students to ensure every child can fulfil their potential. In summer 2016, we celebrated the best results in the history of the academy, with 61% achieving GCSE passes in maths and English at grades A*-C, alongside the highest A Level results in Doncaster. Last year we focused on raising results across the entire curriculum and we saw GCSE attainment surge to meet similar standards across the vast majority of subjects. We aim to intervene quickly to support students at risk of falling behind and adapt the curriculum to help them. In Key Stage Three, we have nurture groups, ensuring that all students are taught in a supportive environment which meets their needs, enabling them to thrive and make progress.

De Warenne Academy is an incredibly vibrant and rewarding place to work, where staff and students know that education is hard work but also fun and enjoyable at the same time. If you take the opportunity to visit the academy you will see the safe, calm and well-organised environment along with the growing pride and rising aspirations very evident in our students.

I am extremely proud to work with such a talented team of students and staff, who work tirelessly to make De Warenne the highly successful and rapidly improving academy that it is today. Should you wish to be part of a team of staff that is hungry to move the academy to the next level then De Warenne is the academy for you. If you feel that you have the skills, qualities, experience, drive and passion to join us on our journey of continued improvement, I very much look forward to receiving your application.

We look forward to you joining our dedicated and supportive team.

Our aim is for all our students to learn in a positive, safe and supportive environment where academic achievement is celebrated and effort and attitude to learning is rewarded. Since our OFSTED inspection in October 2021, which deemed De Warenne a ‘Good’ school in all areas, GCSE results have shown a continuous improvement year on year.

The class of 2023 left our Academy with fantastic results, making the most progress in the history of De Warenne and having made more progress than any other secondary school in Doncaster. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, with academic, vocational and technical subjects offered to all our students and we deliver a rich and varied personal development curriculum. We offer a wide range of enrichment activities in order to unearth a variety of strengths and talent, which we strongly encourage students to take part in. We also take learning beyond the classroom with events and educational visits running throughout the year. We serve the villages of Conisbrough and Denaby Main, situated between Doncaster and Rotherham. We are a small but oversubscribed academy, with over 750 students on roll, and we pride ourselves on knowing our students well and doing our best to ensure everyone fulfils their potential.

We benefit from having a recently built academy situated in spacious grounds with excellent facilities including a recently built 3g astroturf pitch.

Our staff are talented and enthusiastic and have all contributed to the academy’s success story. We have a staff rewards budget and socialise both as subject teams and as a whole staff. We also have access to a staff benefits scheme.

At De Warenne, we value the continuous professional development of all our employees and recognise that our staff and students are most successful when they feel happy, valued, challenged and supported to achieve their very best.

Our senior leadership team, along with our dedicated teachers and support staff, are committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for every child in our care. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team within a high-performing multi academy trust with exciting career prospects for successful applicants. Come and visit us and see for yourself!
