Grange Primary School in South Ealing are looking for teaching assistant with ABA experience to support an 8 year old boy in Year 3.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well established and successful ABA programme in a mainstream school.

The family has been running their ABA programme at home and in school, for over four years.

You will be supporting the child who has a diagnosis of Autism, on a 1:1 basis. The pupil is friendly and affectionate with his main areas of difficulty being communication, social skills, attention and listening and sensory processing difficulties.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, meticulous, calm, caring and professional, with a desire to further the child’s learning opportunities and independence. An understanding of, and interest in the difficulties experienced by children with Autism is essential. You will need to be creative with teaching the curriculum to engage and motivate the child, who is keen to learn and is progressing well through school. A level of empathy and patience is also essential to support the child in his daily school routines.

School and or SEN experience would also be preferable. ABA experience would be ideal but not essential as full individual training will be given by Child Autism UK, the family’s programme provider. Half-termly workshops will be held at school to provide support and training.

The child’s speech and language and social skills are very delayed and self-directed, but are developing rapidly so both need to be encouraged and supported throughout the school day, as well as implementing strategies provided by an Occupational Therapist in school.

Good communication skills are essential, so lessons and activities can be well-planned and the childs parents require a high-level of involvement with the child’s progress and daily reports.

Grange Primary is a two minute walk from South Ealing tube station and is a modern well equipped building with friendly and supportive staff and parents.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service).
