Job Description

Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of Abbey Hill Academy, Westlands Academy, Hollis Academy and Green Gates Academy. The academies serve a population of 500 students aged 5 to 19 with a broad range of learning difficulties.

Abbey Hill Academy & Abbey Hill Academy 6th Form are at the forefront of current developments in the education of young people with special educational needs. We specialise in meeting the needs of students aged 11 to 19 who have a full range of learning disabilities.

Abbey Hill Academy, where this post will be situated, provides for approximately 225 young people aged 11 to 19 years who have learning difficulties, as well as other physical and social needs and autism.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, outstanding, creative and enthusiastic teaching assistant who has the flexibility to work with young people who have a variety of special educational needs. The role involves supporting students in the classroom giving attention to their physical as well as educational requirements. Applicants should possess at least a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, have GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above (or equivalent) and a high standard of literacy and numeracy.

Although there is an expectation that all our staff will work across the Trust as necessary, this post will be primarily based at Abbey Hill Academy.
