Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of four academies, Abbey Hill Academy, Westlands Academy, Green Gates Academy and Hollis Academy, serving a population of 500 students aged 5 to 19 with a broad range of learning difficulties.

Westlands Academy is situated in Thornaby and provides for 75 students aged 11 to 16 years who have SEMHD, as well as other learning difficulties and in addition has a 15 place residential unit. The post at Westlands Academy requires working with young people at KS3/4 who present challenging behaviour.

We are seeking an outstanding, creative and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our team at Westlands Academy. The right candidates will need to be enthusiastic and inspirational with high expectations of our children and themselves.

Salary: £16,068 - £17,118 per annum
Benefits & Grade: Grade H (NJC points 23-25)
Contract Details: Required for September 2017 for one year (in the first instance)
Contract Hours: 32.5 Hours per week, term time only + 5 PL days

Previous experience of working with students with SEMHD would be desirable but not essential. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential requirements of this post.
