Job overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team here at The Oldham Academy North, working with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing general and specific assistance to pupils and staff under the direction, guidance and direct supervision of the classroom teacher. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.


Reporting to the HLTA or SLT link


  • Work with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff
  • Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Support pupils to understand instructions and support independent learning
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour plans and Personal Care programs under the supervision and guidance of teaching staff
  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work
  • Use strategies, under the supervision and guidance of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals

Salary: £15,722 - £16,297 - FTE - £20,441 - £21,189

32.5 hours per week - 39 weeks per year
