Hours 37.5 hours per week

Working as a Teaching Assistant/Cover Supervisor across our three sites in Hinckley, Burbage and Narborough, you will provide cover for teachers and teaching assistants, which will include working in small classes (typically of no more than six students), working 1:1 with a student, or supporting a small group when out on educational trips.

Part of Priory Education and Children’s Services, our day school is for young people aged 8 to 19 years with severe to mild autistic spectrum disorder and associated learning difficulties.  Pupils may also have challenging behaviour as a result of their communication difficulties and a lack of social understanding.


This is a varied role which would suit a proactive and flexible individual, who is keen to quickly become a valued member of our team.


You will have the ability to support our student's academic learning in an autism friendly way, as well as supporting their wider behavioural and emotional needs.


You will currently be a Teaching Assistant who is looking for additional responsibilities and the opportunity to develop your role.


You will also:

Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to quickly build a rapport with our young people

Be highly organised, reliable and adaptable

The following skills would be of benefit to the role:


A good knowledge of autism and/or experience of working with young people on the autistic spectrum

You must also be a confident driver who will be comfortable transporting students in school vehicles.

Sketchley School provides specialist support for both boys and girls aged 8 to 19 years who are on the autistic spectrum, who may also have challenging behaviour, as a result of their communication difficulties and a lack of social understanding.
