TEACHING ASSISTANT

Leicester Grammar Junior School is a selective, co-educational independent day school of just over 400 pupils aged 3-11; it is today larger than at any time in its history. It is highly regarded across Leicestershire and children are drawn from a wide catchment area.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, inspiring and versatile Teaching Assistant, who will join our team in October, to support our Year 1 class with teaching and learning as well as providing general and specific assistance to pupils and staff under the direction, guidance and supervision of the classroom teacher. This role presents an opportunity to motivate young people to develop confidence in their own independent learning and resilience. Experience of working in a prep or secondary school or with children in key stage 1 or 2 could be an advantage.

To ensure continuity of care, the position is being offered to work all school hours whilst the school is in session plus one week of INSET days. The actual salary for this post will be £19,065 per annum. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

We welcome applications from all sectors of the community as we aspire to attract staff who reflect the social and cultural diversity of our pupil intake. We consider the most important factor to be the right skills, abilities and attitude for the role which will ultimately improve the well-being and education of the pupils. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Please visit www.lgs-junior.org.uk/vacancies for an information pack and application form.

If you are interested in this opportunity, email a completed application form with your curriculum vitae and a covering letter addressed to Mrs Sophia Ashworth Jones, Headteacher, to recruitment@leicestergrammar.org.uk no later than 9am on Friday 30th September 2022.

Please note, interviews may take place prior to the closing date, therefore interested candidates are advised to apply as soon as possible.

Leicester Grammar Junior School is a selective, co-educational independent day school of just over 400 pupils founded in 1992 for pupils aged 3-11; it is today larger than at any time in its history. It is highly regarded across Leicestershire and children are drawn from a wide catchment area.

The school has built up a strong reputation for delivering an excellent academic education, whilst developing the all-round talents of the children in a warm and nurturing environment. The vast majority of our pupils progress to Leicester Grammar School, and this provides them with a seamless transition in their education to a leading senior school, named Sunday Times East Midlands Independent Secondary School of the Year 2020. Underpinning these academic successes is a caring community based on a Christian ethos that offers an extensive co-curricular programme, including strong provision for music, sport and drama. The Senior and Junior Schools were inspected in November 2019 and achieved the highest grading (‘Excellent’) in both categories (Pupils’ Achievements and Pupils’ Personal Development).

The school has excellent local transport links, with both London and Birmingham under an hour away by train. Market Harborough, situated 10 miles south of Great Glen, was recently voted as one of the ‘Best Places to Live’ by The Sunday Times.

Leicester Grammar School Trust is an educational trust overseeing three schools: Leicester Grammar School, Leicester Grammar Junior School and LGS Stoneygate.
