Rivington and Blackrod High School are setting up a resourced provision, which will cater for 25 children with Autism of secondary school age. Our pupils will have the potential to access a mainstream curriculum, both socially and academically and will need additional support when developing their language and communication, conversational skills, social skills, thinking and learning, behaviour and Sensory/motor. The focus of your work will be to progressively train our resource students to manage in mainstream education for an increasing proportion of their time.


The School wishes to appoint a Teaching Assistant with experience of working with students with ASD, and families and agencies ensuring that identified pupil(s) including those with Educational Healthcare Plans, are able to access the curriculum in the most effective way, appropriate to their needs and understanding across the Key Stages. We seek a Teaching Assistant with experience of: 

 

• Working directly with ASD pupils with in the resource provision; working under the guidance of teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom. 

• This includes acquiring/using specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teacher in the planning, management and preparation of resources.
