About Us

Thomas Deacon Education Trust (TDET) is a charitable organisation dedicated to raising educational outcomes across a range of primary and secondary phase schools and academies in the East Midlands.  As a newly formed multi-academy trust we strive to provide outstanding teaching and learning for all and an ethos and culture that encourages everyone to be the very best that they can be.

Our moral purpose is defined through our commitment to see every member of the learning community achieve their full potential.  As a Trust, however, we recognise the importance and individuality of the local context of each of our schools and encourage diversity of practice whilst retaining a collective sense of unity in our purpose.

Our core values of Trust; Diversity; Excellence and Transformation underpin all aspects of student and staff life in our academies and gives us a platform to offer innovative and efficient business services.

We put learners, and their learning, at the heart of everything we do.

Welbourne Primary Academy has a nurturing and inclusive ethos and sets high expectations for all pupils and staff. You will work under the guidance of the Class Teacher and will have many opportunities to engage in personal professional development activities.

Welbourne Primary Academy Autism hub

At Welbourne we have a hub for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This is a Local authority provision which provides an Enhanced Resource base for up to eight children. These children access the Sky room and Rocket room classrooms for at least part of their school day.  Spaces in the hub are allocated by the Local Authority SEN Panel, according to the guidance set out in the Service Level Agreement. Children who are allocated a place in the hub, work on individualised educational programmes, guided by their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) as well as autism targets taken from the AET progression framework. The children integrate with the pupils in the mainstream as much as possible. For some of the children this might mean spending most of their time in the Sky room or Rocket room, whereas others will join the mainstream children for some, or most, of their day. Welbourne is also a Centre of Expertise in Autism. This means that the hub staff support other schools in Peterborough to develop good autism practice. This might be through advice, modelling, training or providing or demonstrating resources.

The Role

We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant with the relevant skills and experience to work in our autism hub. The successful candidate will be expected to work one-to-one and in small groups of students within the ASD hub. The successful candidate will be expected to support with the planning, teaching and assessment of children in the hub classrooms.

Candidates will hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or be able to demonstrate that they are working towards this qualification) and have experience of working with students with Autism.

The Trust offers:

•                     Excellent salary package.

•                     Fantastic training/CPD opportunities in a friendly supportive environment.

•                     Opportunity for progression across Thomas Deacon Education Trust.

•                     Use of TDET facilities (including a gym and onsite car parking).

•                     Local Government Pension Scheme.

•                     An engaging, creative and welcoming environment to learners who take pride in     their school.

•                     An inclusive and collaborative approach.

•                     A talented, highly motivated, committed and professional team of colleagues, both within the school and across the trust.

•                     An actively supportive Local Governing Body and Trust leadership.

Thomas Deacon Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The Academy will require the successful candidate to provide satisfactory references and undertake an Enhanced Check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
