Purpose of the job: To provide support to students, individually or in groups, as directed by the Class Teacher, so as to promote continuous improvement in student achievement and ensure a secure and effective environment in which learning can best take place.

A wonderful oportunity has arisen at Victoria School within our Educational support team. The successful applicant will be motivated, enthusiastic and ready to join our skilled team based at Victoria School.

Livability Victoria School is a school for students aged 3-19 with primarily physical and medical needs and associated learning difficulties in Poole, Dorset. We also cater for a number of students with Autistic spectrum condition. We are a fully inclusive and integrated school that inspires and creates a wonderfully calm and nurturing environment.

The post holder will be responsible for enabling students to participate in learning activities by recognising and providing support as appropriate for their specific difficulties, including, communication and interaction difficulties, cognition and learning difficulties, behavioural, emotional and social development need and sensory and/or physical difficulties. You will report directly to the Class teacher ensuring smooth dleivery of teaching material is maintained as well as observing student performance, providing constructive feedback to the Teacher and contribute to reports and maintain records as required, whilst ensuring confidentiality.

Ideally you will have experience of working with children either in a special school or within an educational support setting. Additional knowledge of sensory integration and additional communication skills, such as, Makaton, would be an advantage.
