Job overview

Teaching Assistant Vacancy – Primary Phase, Cranbrook Education Campus

Grade B (£13,568 - £13,839)

32.5 hours per week (5 days, 8:30am – 3:30pm)

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant or Graduate wishing to pursue a career in teaching, to provide student support in the primary phase of the campus. Alternatively, if you have completed your teacher training, have yet to obtain a teaching position and would like an opportunity to develop your confidence and subject knowledge, we would welcome an application from you. We recognise that Covid has impacted trainee teachers and has led them not having the same level of teaching experience as those of previous years. We find that this role is an excellent stepping stone and there may be opportunities to pay you as a supply teacher in the event of staff absence. Please let us know if this is something you would be interested in discussing.

Ideally applicants will preferably have a NVQ2 or 3 (or equivalent) or a degree if they aspire to train to be a teacher in the future and have experience of working with children. We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking, creative practitioners, who are able to motivate pupils.

It is desirable that candidates have grade C or equivalent in English and Maths GCSE, a good level of spoken English, are a good team member and are able to develop positive behaviour strategies with children.

We are able to provide you with excellent opportunities to develop further.

The successful candidates will:

  be an outstanding classroom practitioner

have experience or a good working knowledge of the curriculum

have the skills and sensitivity to deal with all members of our community and multi-agency partners

be enthusiastic, driven and committed to ensuring the school’s future success

be able to work as part of a friendly and supportive team

be a life-long learner and an inspiration to others.

The position is initially temporary as part of arrangements for covering a maternity absence.

If successful, you will be an employee of the Ted Wragg Trust, a charitable foundation trust, which works with schools in Exeter and the local community to raise the aspirations of young people and enable them to become fulfilled, confident and motivated citizens, able to contribute actively to a democratic society.

The Ted Wragg Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and operate in accordance with the Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy. All applicants will be subject to a full Disclosure and Barring Service check before an appointment is confirmed.  This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

The Trust is committed to ensuring that our employees are able to achieve their full potential in an environment offering dignity, respect and equality of opportunity.

The closing date is 9.00am, Friday 21st January 2022.

Completed applications should be sent to Clare Sellick, Business Support Officer, Cranbrook Education Campus, Tillhouse Road, Cranbrook, EX5 7EE, or e-mailed to recruitment@cranbrook.education
