Teaching Assistant - Primary Phase

We are looking for a proactive and dynamic Teaching Assistant to provide support for pupils who have a range of particular needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the development of pupils; you will be working in the classroom and implementing programmes of support designed especially to meet their needs. The role is ideal for a new or established colleague who aspires to grow and develop as an outstanding Teaching Assistant and also great for those who are considering teacher training in the future. Our successful candidate will be based in the Primary Phase of an all-through academy which provides a wide range of CPD opportunities.​​​​​​​

The successful candidate will: 

• Be aware of and support school policies and procedures. 
• Work, or play, with individuals, or small groups of children, to assist in the delivery of the planned curriculum, as directed by the Class Teacher. 
• Set up group activities under the guidance of the Class Teacher / Subject Leaders. Work with children on practical activities, giving assistance and encouragement. 
• Read to, and with, small groups of children, on curriculum activities. 
• Assist in the planning, creation and mounting of displays of the children’s work. 
• Provide support and assistance for children’s pastoral needs (e.g. promoting self-esteem, and overall well-being of the child 
• Be prepared to work across all age ranges within the Primary School. 

The successful candidate will have:

• The ability to be creative and use initiative to engage children. 
• The ability to work under pressure, with enthusiasm, motivation and commitment. 
• Strong listening skills and the ability to prioritise, manage time effectively and remain calm under pressure.
• Strong verbal and communication skills appropriate to the need to communicate effectively with a wide range of pupils, colleagues and parents.​

This is a permanent position which offers an actual salary of £15,920 per annum (£21,189 full-time equivalent), working 32.5 hours per week, term time + 1 week of inset. ​​​​​​​

Working with our academy: The Hundred of Hoo Academy is a unique all-through academy with pupils from Reception up to Sixth Form. In September 2011, The Hundred of Hoo converted to academy status. Just one year later, Ofsted judged the academy as “good with outstanding features” recognising the relentless focus and ambition that we have. In September 2015 the academy welcomed its first Reception class thereby extending its age range to 4-year-old children. This exciting provision demonstrates the academy’s sense of ambition to serve the community where pupils’ academic journey represents a cradle to university principle.

We are delighted to announce that following a recent Ofsted inspection in July 2018 the academy has been judged 'Good' with 'Outstanding' features in terms of our early year's provision and effectiveness of leadership and management.
