Situated in the former mining community in Clipstone, the academy has a long history since first opening its doors in 1923 to children in the local area.

Our vision is to inspire, raise aspirations and enable all children to create brighter tomorrows. We achieve this through providing a wide, balanced and interesting curriculum, engaging pupils through great teaching and ensuring that we provide appropriate support for all with the highest expectations.

At Samuel Barlow, we create an inclusive culture of learning, where all children are challenged in their thinking, achieve to the best of their abilities and strive to become life-long learners. We work tirelessly to empower our children to become respected citizens and enable them to make valuable contributions locally, globally and to contribute to our world’s sustainable future.

Great importance is placed on the safety and happiness of all our children – we believe their educational experience should truly be the best experience of their lives.

The future for all children who attend Samuel Barlow Primary is bright. We want our children to aspire to be the very best that they can be – our staff will support all children to reach for their goals.

It is also very important to us to work closely with our local community. We engage with families, local businesses and the public by offering regular opportunities to find out about what we are doing within the academy, including news updates through our website and social channels, plus events throughout the year.
