South Harringay Junior School is a two form mainstream junior school in the heart of Haringey. The school has a committed and enthusiastic team across its staff and governors who are always keen to welcome new members.

We are looking for an inspiring and talented Higher Level Teaching assistance with a responsibility for teaching Spanish across KS2 and working as a teaching assistant for the rest of the timetable. You will be enthusiastic, have great interpersonal skills, enjoy working as part of a team and want the very best for our students. The successful candidate will have good literacy and numeracy skills and will be able to communicate effectively with children and parents.

As we would require the successful candidate to teach Spanish, fluency in this language is essential and some experience of teaching Spanish is desirable.

The successful candidates will be required to:

  • Support teachers' delivery of the national curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, students, and school policies and strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist teachers in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources when supporting classes as a teaching assistant
  • Plan for and supervise whole classes in order to deliver Spanish lessons to pupils
  • Provide support for students, the teacher and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all students, by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes
  • Deliver interventions to support students with special educational needs, e.g. RWInc and language groups
  • Encourage students to become independent learners
  • Provide support for their welfare, and to support the inclusion of students in all aspects of school life
