Role Summary

Here at Seashell we provide education and care for children and young people with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairments, communication disorders and autism.

Our site is part way through an amazing transformation with state of the art facilities being built. Following the construction of a residential village of 17 care homes in 2015 and a world class school that opened in February 2023, we are embarking on the next phase of our development with a new college and inclusive sports and wellbeing facilities, set to be delivered in 2025.

We are recruiting talented Teaching Assistants for our Ofsted Outstanding Royal Manchester School, a non-maintained special day and residential school for children and young people aged 2 to 19 with severe, profound and complex needs.

In these active roles you will support the class Teacher and work on a one to one basis with learners delivering their individual lesson plans and also provide any other support they may require through the school day such as with personal care, communication and leisure activities. Some students may present challenging behaviour, so similar lived and/or previous work experience is advantageous - however full training is provided. Please note these are physically demanding roles with a requirement to keep up some of the more active students who may like to run, use our adapted bikes and go in the swimming pool!

So if you are looking for a challenging & rewarding role where you can make a real difference to the lives of children with complex needs and you share our values then we’d like to hear from you!

Requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths (grade A-C) or level 2 literacy and numeracy.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with complex health needs preferred.
  • Caring nature with a passion for supporting children with complex needs and enhancing their learning and development.
  • Ideally have a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or willingness to obtain with support from Seashell.

Support and benefits

We support all new starters with a 2 week induction and ongoing training. We also promote your development through appraisals & supervisions and we encourage career progression and development throughout the business.

Other benefits include:

  • A generous annual leave entitlement (5.4 weeks per year as school holidays).
  • A comprehensive health and wellbeing provision including Employee Assistance, wellbeing programmes and Occupational Health.
  • Retail, food and leisure discount card.
  • Life Assurance.
