Job overview

Clyst Vale is a thriving and vibrant 11 , 18 Community College situated five miles from Exeter. Visitors to Clyst Vale usually comment on the friendly, orderly atmosphere, the courtesy of our students, and the purposefulness in lessons. We have clear expectations and systems, but far more important are the excellent working relationships we establish between staff and students, as well as staff and parents. We remain the only Secondary school in Devon to be accredited Silver Rights Respecting School status.

Clyst Vale has an excellent reputation for supporting students with SEND and in order to this we need an equally excellent team of teaching Assistants to facilitate learning both inside and outside the classroom.  Following the appointment of our new SENDCo, and a review of our provision, we are pleased to be able to offer a number of Teaching Assistant vacancies to start 1st September 2022. Initially fixed term until 31st August 2023, however this will be reviewed on successful completion of probation and in line with current funding levels.

The Roles

You will provide support for individual and groups of pupils within mainstream classes, and sometimes working one to one with a student, in a variety of subjects, including sports and outdoor education.

No experience is necessary, although GCSE (or equivalent) grade C Maths and English are desirable. What is essential, however, is someone who has a warm, firm, and caring approach with students.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking to establish themselves as part of our excellent Teaching Assistant team or for someone who is looking to move into education and sees this as a potential steppingstone.

Working hours for all roles are Monday - Friday 08:40 - 15:20 - 1057 hours per annum over 39 weeks.   Whilst ideally we are looking for staff to work the full time hours noted above, for the right candidate there can be flexibility in these.  Please indicate in your application the hours/days you are looking for.

The salary quoted below is for the fulltime role and would be pro-rata for any less hours.

Grade C Teaching Assistant - Salary £12083 (actual) rising to £12572 (actual) after 1 year

The Additional Support team works closely with subject teams, pastoral staff and parents to provide support for students with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) but with a child-centered approach which looks to build upon success and enable all to fulfil their potential. The College works towards the effective inclusion of all students with SEND into mainstream lessons wherever possible while, at the same time, providing the necessary support to enable them to succeed.

To apply, please visit our website:  http://www.clystvale.org/vacancies/   Please indicate what hours/days you are looking for.

Closing date for all applications is Midnight Sunday 10th July 2022.

Interviews will take place on Monday 18th July 2022.
