Salary:                    £16,000 - £18,000 per annum

ABOUT US

Overton School provides specialist care and education for young people aged. We are located in the beautiful Shropshire countryside on the periphery of the market town of Ludlow. 

The school is situated in a large characterful Victorian building sensitively adapted to meet the varying needs of our young people. Our school offers a modern education block with dedicated academic and vocational learning spaces which compliments the school’s capacity for providing high quality care and learning where students are supported to enjoy and achieve.

THE ROLE:

We are recruiting a committed Teaching Assistant to join our education team and deliver an appropriately broad and balanced curriculum to outstanding levels at our residential school, Overton School in Ludlow. You will be supporting children who have an Autistic/LD diagnosis to reach their full potential in their education.

To be considered for this role it is essential that you have a genuine commitment to working with pupils with special educational needs and that you have the passion to encourage positive learning experiences. You will be assertive in difficult situations and will have the ability to adapt your teaching approaches to individual needs, in particular communication adaptation.

This is a great opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is looking to start or continue their career in Education and is motivated to inspire learning in children with varied and complex needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN/ASC environment would be desirable, excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important. These roles are ideal for people working in customer facing industries including retail, hospitality, and leisure, looking for a new role that makes a real difference to children’s lives and futures. Experience in leading Duke of Edinburgh, PE or Careers would be desirable.

Educated to GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, enjoy working as part of a team, and be genuinely motivated by helping every child to reach their potential.
