Newbury Manor School, Newbury Nr Mells, Frome, Somerset, BA11 3RG
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, term time only
Based in a listed manor house set in beautiful countryside, you will work as part of a specialist team of teachers and therapists to deliver personalised curriculum packages that motivate and inspire our students.
Experience as a Teaching Assistant would be beneficial, but as long as you have the communication and caring skills required for this role, we will give you all the training and development you need to succeed.
Successful candidates will contribute to the effective implementation of individual programmes by supporting the teaching and learning, social and independence activities and experiences, which enhance the learning and development of Children and Young People.
You must also be able to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure. A clean driving licence with at least 3 years driving experience would be an advantage due to the location of the school.
Newbury Manor School is a specialist school for 30 young people aged 7 to 19 who have autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of needs, from those who are broadly average in their ability to others, who have more severe learning difficulties.
We provide a total environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can come to understand their own areas of difficulties and learn skills and techniques in order to overcome them. This ensures that they are able to fulfil their potential socially, academically, physically and spiritually and enable them to rebuild their low self-esteem and self-belief.
