Hours: 36 hours per week, Term Time Only

Location: Chart Wood School, Merstham, RH1 3PU (From 1st September 2020 Chart Lane South, Dorking, RH5 4DA)

Chart Wood is a special school for boys aged 9 to 16 years who have social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). Some students also have co-existing conditions, such as a specific learning difficulty or a diagnosis of ASD. Staff: student ratios are favourable and support our students to achieve well. Chart Wood School was formed in June 2017 following the amalgamation of two schools, St Nicholas School and Starhurst School. Currently based in Merstham we are undergoing development with a committed refurbishment and relocation to a site in Dorking, planned for September 2020.

We are looking for someone with drive and creativity to work under the guidance of teaching staff to support learners to make exceptional progress in all aspects of school life. You will supervise and provide particular support for pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities and create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work.

It is essential that you have experience of working with or caring for Children. Working within a school and with children with disabilities is desirable, however not essential.

Pupils follow a personalised programme of study, allied to the national curriculum, that takes into account their strengths and passions and presents their learning in a meaningful, accessible and engaging way
