Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an experienced SEN TA to support a current Reception Year pupil with an Educational Health Care plan, moving to Year 1 in September 2016. This position is linked to funding for this pupil, with a review date of July 2017.

Status: Fixed Term (contract attached to funding for child)
Hours: 28.75 hours per week (8.45am to 3.30pm) with 1hr lunch break
Working weeks per year: 39 (Term-time plus 5 INSET days)
Grade: BEXLEY 05 points 1-4 (Hourly rate: £9.61 to £10.22)
Post Start Date: September 2016 or before

The successful candidate will have:

  • previous experience of working with children; preferably in a school setting and including children with SEN
  • a sound understanding of KS1/EYFS. An appropriate qualification (at least level 2) is desirable.
  • some experience with Speech and Language
  • excellent interpersonal skills and must be able to use their own initiative and common sense.
  • ability to carry out 1:1 intervention programmes, track and monitor progress, encourage pupil’s development through activities, play and positive behaviour management
  • the skills to work collaboratively with the class teacher, parents, SENCO, other staff and on occasions professionals from external agencies
  • a commitment to professional development, be reflective and act upon feedback
  • a sense of humour

The successful applicant will be well supported by an experienced, knowledgeable, hardworking and friendly team. Knowledge of Health and Safety / First Aid is desirable. A willingness to undertake training as required is essential.
