Job overview

  Teaching Assistant

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and ambitious teaching assistant to support the learning of primary aged students who live on Tresco and Bryher. This post would be ideally suited to someone who is considering a teaching career in the future and would allow that person to develop their skills and knowledge in a secure, supportive and creative environment.  The successful applicant will work in a school at a key point in its development and be part of a vibrant and passionate learning community.

The Five Islands School is an all age, multi-site, Voluntary Controlled Church of England school serving the island communities of Bryher, St Agnes, St Martins, St Mary’s and Tresco. There are 276 students on roll across 4 school sites.

At the Five Islands School we have high aspirations for our students and expect them to achieve great success. There is a happy, purposeful and hardworking ethos amongst both staff and students resulting in rapidly improving attainment and outstanding behaviour.

Tresco & Bryher Base will have 17 primary aged pupils in 2018-2019. Children attend Nursery on St Mary’s island and move to Carn Gwaval base from Year 7, boarding Monday to Friday at Mundesley Boarding House. KS2 pupils travel to Carn Gwaval once a week to join in with collaborative learning activities including PE and music, enabling them to work in larger groups with peers.

I very much look forward to reading your application and hope that I will meet you in the near future to discuss the part you could play in raising the school to “world class”.
