Working in a supportive role in a caring environment as a Teaching Assistant you will support the educational, personal and social development of students with varied and sometimes multiple learning barriers and needs in the classroom, in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. This is a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to the achievements of our young people (11–16 years) who need additional support and understanding. Whether you are looking for full or part time hours, we would welcome your application!
You will be part of a large and supportive team of TAs in the Learning, Intervention and Nurture Centre (The LINC) which has a great reputation for supporting students with special educational needs, disabilities, anxiety, learning barriers and multiple and complex needs. Your support as a TA enables students to access a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum and to be fully included in all aspects of school life and will support the school’s vision of ‘no child left behind.’
We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated applicants with experience of working with young people in a secondary education environment. This is a rewarding and varied role where you will need a positive and flexible approach to work. You should have a good basic understanding of effective ways to support SEN and disabled students and a good understanding of moderate learning difficulties; dyslexia; cognitive processing; autism; speech & language strategies; anger management, social skills and self-esteem strategies.
We are committed to offering excellent CPD opportunities which reflect our emphasis on training, support and career development and we see this as a key element in enabling our staff to achieve their goals and ambitions.
