Chiswick School is looking to appoint a number of enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistants to join the Special Educational Needs and Disability Department as part of an ongoing recruitment process.

We are looking to recruit a mixture of:

  • graduates who are interested in a ‘gap year’ work placement, perhaps with a view to gaining experience prior to pursuing a teacher training course or undertaking other work with young people.

and

  • experienced Teaching Assistants who have previously worked with children with learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD, with physical disabilities and other needs.

Successful candidates will:

  • be committed to enhancing young people’s learning
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • have good organisational skills
  • be motivated and creative
  • be able to use their initiative and work independently
  • enjoy working as part of a team
  • have high expectations of young people’s achievement and behaviour
  • want to develop their careers through continued training and professional development opportunities
  • have an ability to value young people as they go through adolescence and aspire for the very best for each individual student.

Applicants are warmly welcome to visit the school.  Please contact Mrs Claire Lewis, SENDCo, clw@chiswickschool.org for further information or to arrange a visit.

This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Chiswick School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A DBS enhanced disclosure that is satisfactory to us will be a condition of employment. All applicants must complete an application form.

Chiswick School is a mixed 11-18 school that is truly comprehensive in its nature.

Our vision is that we do whatever it takes to ensure every student achieves their full potential. Over the last year we have made rapid progress in our classrooms and we are delighted that Ofsted has recognised how far we have come. Over the next four years we are aiming to become one of the finest schools in London providing students with exceptional opportunities in and out of the classroom.

Chiswick School is full of adults who care deeply about children and we pride ourselves on the positive relationships we build with students. We are a family which includes parents and carers, teachers, other school staff and the community; with the child placed firmly at the centre of all that we do and the decisions that we take.

Our teaching and support colleagues are our most valuable resource and we work hard to provide a balanced and enjoyable working environment.  A new Wellbeing Strategy is being implemented to enhance what we are already doing to support our staff.

"Staff praise leaders for the improvements that have been made. They said that leaders take their workload and well-being seriously. Staff morale is high. They are committed to playing their part in the continued improvement of the school."  - Ofsted, January 2020

Laura Ellener
Headteacher
