As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join our new indpendent spcialist School Mountfield Heath based in Robertsbirdge, East Sussex. About the Role

Initially, you will work with our Teachers and Senior Leadership Team to provide essential support to our SEN pupils with learning difficulties, behavioural, social and physical disabilities. You will build positive relationships with pupils to promote interaction and a constructive learning environment, as well as assist the class teacher and other education staff with learning activities. Work is often carried outside of the classroom environment and you will have the opportunity to assist in the planning and delivery of lessons in a very creative and positive setting.

Our team at Mountfield Heath is encouraged to take a creative approach, seeking ways to positively engage with and motivate pupils through lessons that promote learning and raise levels of attainment. Smaller class sizes mean you can focus on building a purposeful learning environment that meets individual educational needs of pupils.

About the School

Mountfield Heath School will cater for42 pupils aged 5-12. We are a new specialist SEN School based in Robertsbrige, East Sussex. 

We are looking for great people to be part of a truly unique and exciting opportunity and help shape a brand-new school and help create a truly exceptional learning environment, to support and develop our pupils. You will have the opportunity to create and tailor the curriculum as well as access high quality CPD to help pursue your own personal goals.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is personable, resilient, organised and determined. 

No two days are the same at Mountfield Heath. We want people who can work at a pace to turn ‘can’t do’ into ‘want to’ and are motivated by working with children with complex needs. You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children in a calm and engaging demeanour, whilst being resilient using an innovative style of teaching motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential.

Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

At Mountfield Heath School we support boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 11 years of age who have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism. Our aim is very simple: we want to equip every child with the skills, knowledge and confidence that they need to be successful in their future.

Mountfield Heath School is set in a spacious, site with designated spaces for outdoor learning and large classrooms. The school is newly refurbished and all learning spaces are bright and airy with high specification IT resources. The school has designated therapeutic areas and plenty of space for creative and experiential learning to take place.
