Job overview

William Morris Sixth Form, situated in Hammersmith, was established as the country’s first 16-19 comprehensive school. We offer 850 students from West London and beyond an exciting range of academic and vocational courses from foundation learning through to advanced level. WMSF is an over-subscribed, vibrant, inner-city learning community which has the individual student at the heart of everything it does.

We are looking for an energetic and creative technician to join our Media and Performing Arts curriculum areas. This position is full time, term-time only and is initially offered on a one-year temporary contract, with a view to becoming a permanent post.

You will use your creative and technical skills to support both staff and students, including filming performances, lessons and rehearsals for examination and editing/uploading footage. You will also support students to improve their practical/technical skills and create resources which encourage students’ independent learning, e.g. self-study packages/guides to software programs.

You will be educated to degree level in a relevant area and be able to use video and image editing software and desktop publishing packages, ideally Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop and In Design. You will also be experienced in DV filming, editing (basic) and uploading footage for online use and have a genuine desire to engage with young people.

Ideally, you will also have some experience of theatre and performance including the rigging and operation of lighting equipment, communications systems, projection and other audio/ visual equipment, however, training will be provided. It would also be beneficial if you hold a First Aid at Work certificate and be trained in Working at Heights and Use of Tower or be willing and able to undertake such training.

To apply, please visit our website: https://www.wmsf.ac.uk/staff-vacancies/92.html

Closing date: 10.00am on Tuesday 22nd January 2019.

Interviews will be held the following week.

We actively promote the safeguarding and welfare of all our students. Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
