Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join Alderwood School. We are recruiting a Technology Technician to provide full technical support to teaching staff and students, particularly within Food Preparation and Nutrition and Textiles.  The Department continues to grow and has seen a considerable increase in pupils opting in at GCSE in recent years.


We're looking for:

• Successful experience of working with children in a school environment

• Good knowledge of appropriate procedures, regulations and guidance, e.g. health & safety and food hygiene.

• Ability to use kitchen, textiles and relevant cleaning equipment

• Good numeracy and literacy skills

• Efficient organisation and capacity to work within time constraints of the school day


Some of the key responsibilities are:

• Assisting in the maintenance of supplies for the department

• Keeping resources in an organised and accessible manner

• Assisting teaching staff in the preparation of resources for lessons including practical preparation and organisation

• Assisting pupils in using equipment as required

• Clear classrooms/work areas after lessons, undertake washing up, cleaning of work surfaces, return of resources to appropriate storage etc. as required

• Maintaining departmental budgets, supply orders and inventory


The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Previous experience of working in an education setting is desirable.  Health and safety training can be provided. 


Alderwood School is an ‘all through’ school on the outskirts of Aldershot split across 3 sites with approximately 750 pupils on our senior site. This role is based at our senior site. 


Hours: 


Full or part time hours would be considered. 


Salary details: 


Hampshire County Council Grade C - Actual Salary depending on hours agreed
