Kingsway Park High School serves a diverse, multi ethnic community which has a large number of asylum seekers, students new to the country (INA) and many students where English is a second language. 

Recently the EAL provision was completely overhauled and using national research, an INA (International New Arrival Centre) call the ALPHA centre was created. It is staffed by a visionary, experienced Head of Department as well as an experienced HLTA and a Czech speaking teaching assistant.

EAL students experience some in class support from this team as well as small group teaching and 1:1 support in the Alpha Centre. The local authority also provide advice and guidance from their EMA team.

The INA department work closely alongside teaching staff to ensure that all EAL/INA students can access a broad and balanced curriculum and that the academic progress of these students is maximised.

The successful candidate will need to have the ability, experience and expertise to teach EAL/INA students and be able to give advice and guidance to mainstream teaching staff on specific EAL/INA students. They will also need to create bespoke teaching and learning packages for EAL/INA students.

This post is suitable for someone with a TEFL or an INA background qualification and experience and who wants to make a real difference to the life chances and academic progress of any of our INA/EAL students.

Kingsway Park High School was established in 2010 and joined the Altus Education Partnership in February 2022. We are now a very popular oversubscribed school in central Rochdale with 1350 students in Years 7-11 and 190 staff.
