As part of our commercial growth strategy, an exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our reputable and well established business development team at Derby College. We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious telesales agent to support our Business Development Team enact the sales growth strategy. You will be part of a small team who are responsible for engaging with employers and driving interest in Derby College’s full range of offering including Apprenticeships and bespoke training packages which support an organisations operational needs and ambitions. The focus of this role is to understand organisations day-to-day operations and essentially generate new business opportunities for our established field sales team. The role will involve working effectively with our marketing team to drive tactical campaigns to support the business development team in generating the maximum number of qualified leads and convert these into sales appointments. You will be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines whilst delivering excellent customer service. In order to be successful you must be self-assured and motivated in your ability to achieve your targets.  You should have proven experience of working in telesales / call centre environment and hold a level 3 qualification or have relevant vocational experience. You will receive training to ensure that you have an exceptional knowledge of the full range of apprenticeships and commercial training delivered by Derby College and you will work as part of a valued team who work together to achieve success.     

Here’s a taster of what we want you to do    

Use telephone, email, social media and a range of other communications to identify, contact and generate interest in our company and solutions 

Follow up swiftly on incoming sales enquiries to gain appointments for representatives 

Follow up e-shot and social media campaigns 

Call prospects to gain delegate attendance at arranged events and exhibitions 

Work with our marketing team to formulate effective campaigns to generate interest in our range of offering

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
