The Oriel Drama Department

The Oriel Drama team currently consists of 2 full-time and 1 part-time teacher We are lucky to have a purpose built drama studio with a large props and costume cupboard, lighting rig and sound system, as well as a PC and projector. We also have a large school hall and small classroom space which are regularly used for teaching. The School is a modern building with lots of natural light and provides an environment conducive to positive and productive learning.

We provide many extra-curricular opportunities for students who enjoy Drama at Oriel, from our annual school show to smaller projects, including student clubs. We also support our most able students by organizing auditions with the National Youth Theatre. We run lots of theatre trips every year, seeing a wide variety of plays to develop students enjoyment and understanding of performance. 

The Drama teachers at Oriel aim to provide every student in our care with the opportunity to master the fundamentals of drama, we teach our own KS3 schemes of work that have been carefully created to provide fun and interesting lessons that are challenging and provide a good base for GCSE Drama. We choose to focus on practical work at KS3, before exploring written work developing an understanding of drama theory at KS4 and KS5. The Arts Faculty is a passionate and forward thinking team, who work together to develop students appreciation of the arts. 

We are looking to appoint someone who......

· Is an excellent teacher with the ability to stretch, inspire, enthuse and engage learners,

· Will lead in providing first-class teaching and learning for our students

· Has experience of teaching Drama across KS3 and KS4

· Has either experience of or a desire to teach Drama at KS5. 

We have excellent support for NQTs and would welcome applications from newly qualified teachers who would like to grow and develop in an innovative and forward thinking department; or more experienced teachers. Oriel has a detailed NQT training package praised by West Sussex and actively encourages CPD throughout the school with a comprehensive program for teachers at all stages of their careers.
