We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual who can support an exciting project focussed on increasing participation rates in Higher Education. The Hub Co-ordinator role, based at Weston College, working with students at the college and a group of partners/schools across North Somerset. This role is 50% but will be combined with other WIN roles currently vacant at Weston College. The successful candidate will facilitate, coordinate and deliver core elements of the WIN outreach programme for students in Year 9-13, and their key influencers. The post holder will also focus on the development of activities and additional support to encourage progression to higher education for students from specific postcodes and target wards. In a new development for academic year 2021/22, the posts will be engaging with adult learners at the college with a view to providing information and advice regarding the option of Higher Education.
The successful applicant will be educated to at least first-degree level (or equivalent) and will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders including parents/carers, teachers and careers advisors. Experience of working with students on a day to basis would be a huge advantage along with a positive attitude and a strong commitment to building effective working relationships.
The postholder will work as a members of the WIN team, which aims to increase progression to higher education in areas where fewer than average numbers of qualified young people continue on to further study. The WIN is one of the Uni Connect consortia funded by the Office for Students (OfS) and covers Bath, North Somerset and Wiltshire.
The post is fixed term until 31st July, 2022 although funding for the role is likely to be extended beyond this date.
