Job overview

Ashville College, Harrogate, is looking to appoint a Graduate Theatre & Audio Visual Technician to provide technical advice and support on all visual needs at the College.  

The post-holder will be expected to manage the day to day running of audio visual requirements and will also work in conjunction with the The Performing Arts Department and Ashville Trading.  

The ideal candidate will be experienced in audio visual setups including presentations, theatre productions including lighting and sound and will ideally have some experience of video production and editing. Experience of working in a school would be an advantage.  

The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly to cover the needs of productions, assemblies and other events across the school calendar, which will involve some evening and weekend working. 

The post is offered on a 37.5 hour week working 8:30am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday term time only plus additional days/hours during productions, concerts, external bookings etc.  The rate of pay for this role is £10.74 per hour.  

Accommodation is provided as part of this role. Some weekend working will be required in Boarding.

Ashville College is a co-educational, independent school for day and boarding pupils aged 2–18. The college, set in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, comprises a pre-school, prep school and senior school with pupil numbers totaling around 870, 170 of whom are in the sixth form and 100 are boarders. The school is a registered charity, administered by Ashville College Trustees.

Ashville College was founded in 1877 as a boarding school for boys by the United Methodist Free Church. Expansion over the decades culminated in a merger with Elmfield College, Harrogate, in the 1930s, by which time Ashville was the largest private school in the north of England.   The most significant development came in 1982 when the school become co-educational.
