Job overview

Roxburgh Theatre Manager

We have a unique and exciting opportunity to recruit a Theatre Manager for the Roxburgh Hall venue at Stowe School.

We are looking for a proactive individual to oversee the day to day running of the theatre, managing long and short term scheduling for external users, supporting the work of the Drama Department in the instruction of pupils in Drama & Theatre and providing line manager support to the Theatre Technicians.

You will provide a high quality theatrical and AV technical service, managing the operation, maintenance, and security of the theatre’s physical plant to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable facility. Excitingly, you will take on the responsibilities of a Production Manager for school productions; including running production meetings, setting schedules and deadlines, organising and overseeing the purchase and hire of specialist lighting, sound and audio visual equipment and set builds. You will manage the budget for the installation, maintenance and upgrade of all technical equipment and ensure all programmes meet artistic and budgetary goals.

You will be a confident leader with clear communication skills, who enjoys working in a team but also independently. You will positively represent and advocate for the Roxburgh Theatre to continually enhance its image, visibility, and influence across both the School and local community. You will have experience of Theatre/Production work or have worked in a related field (Lighting or Sound Engineering).

Hours of work depend on the programme and vary from week to week. The nature of the role means there are periods of intense production work which can attract unsocial hours followed by quieter periods when the theatre is dark, therefore a flexible approach is essential.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week (52 weeks per year) to be worked flexibly according to need of the service including evenings and weekends.

Salary: up to £35,000 per annum

To apply, please attach a CV and covering letter (if you are shortlisted you will be required to complete a full application form), you can do this via our website or email: recruitment@stowe.co.uk
