Job overview
We are seeking a strong all-round technician. Of special interest to us is a technician with particular expertise in sound design and film/projections. The successful applicant will be part of the core theatre team, working to maintain and develop very high production standards, but also expected to work with a wide range of staff from other departments in assisting with and managing designated events, including concerts, lectures, assemblies and public functions.
The successful applicant will be a well-rounded theatre technician and have general levels of experience and up-to-date knowledge of theatre health and safety, lighting programming and design, sound production and design, rigging, maintenance, light building and construction and a solid working knowledge of electrical power distribution as it pertains to the planning and execution of a theatrical production.
Candidates are likely to have a degree or higher qualification in drama or an aspect of technical theatre, or significant professional experience. They should have experience of theatre production and event setup in a professional, fringe or student context and be able to cope with the rigours of a busy school event calendar.
The role is on a full-time basis of 40 hours per week. Normal working hours are 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, with an hour for lunch. Attendance at some evening and weekend events will be required, with time off in lieu. In return, we offer 25 working days’ annual holiday plus statutory English public holidays.
