Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Trainee IT Technician to join our expanding team. This position will suit someone wanting to start their career in IT support, looking to work in a dynamic environment, and participate in a structured training programme. 

The role will provide opportunities to gain experience in a range of schools within the Trust. The successful applicant needs to be committed to achieving a qualification in information technology through the apprenticeship programme. This will involve taking part in a digital blended learning programme, with access to virtual labs for technical tasks and training and regular support from a learning coach.

The role involves providing general IT support through:

  • Assisting the IT team in maintaining workstations, laptops, tablets, audio visual equipment and software in good working order
  • Assisting the IT team in the deployment of computer hardware
  • Initial troubleshooting of IT issues, in response to helpdesk tickets
  • Routine administration including iPad management and workstation health checks
  • Assisting with the expansion of schools’ network infrastructure, including switches, cabling and wireless network equipment
  • Software installation, maintenance and upgrading in line with school policy
  • Reporting any breach of the IT Acceptable Use Policy to the Line Manager
  • Being aware of the school’s health and safety policy and assist in carrying out the appropriate responsibilities
  • Assisting with the setup of audio visual equipment for presentations
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the IT inventory
  • Changing printer toners and basic printer troubleshooting
  • Setting up new Windows users.
