Job overview

Would you like to train on the job and achieve your PGCE at one of the top performing secondary schools in East London?

We seek to appoint an ambitious Maths Graduate as a Trainee Maths Teacher, who is looking to train as a secondary teacher through the salaried assessment-only route. This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate, who has a passion for Maths and is looking for a path into teaching.

We are a World Class School, hold Beacon School status and work in effective partnership with several organisations including City Excellence in Teaching which is an innovative one year secondary school-based Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme through School Direct (salaried), in partnership with the Institute of Education and East London Teaching School Alliance.

As Britain’s first federated school, our campus embraces two schools, Boys’ and Girls’ with a co-ed Sixth Form. The school has 1254 students on roll, including 189 in the Sixth Form. We are proud of our success, OFSTED has quoted “In this high performing school, students make rapid progress and reach high standards in many subjects” and “Leaders and managers at all levels, provide the drive and ambition needed to ensure that this wonderful school continually improves”.

Maths is a highly popular subject at the school, attracting high numbers at A Level. However, we are not complacent - working with a team of passionate and dedicated practitioners, you will contribute to the development of a department that aims to maintain an outstanding reputation. With state of the art buildings and facilities and a team of innovative, experienced and dedicated professional staff, Bishop Challoner is an exciting and supportive environment in which to work and develop your career.

You do not need to be a practising Catholic to apply.

We Offer:

· Extensive training and support through our designated partnerships City Excellence in Teaching, Institute of Education and East London Teaching School Alliance

· Outstanding support from faculty teams and the support of a designated mentor / buddy colleague

· Opportunities to be involved with action-based research on topics that match your pedagogical interests
