We train over 100 people every year in Sheffield and the Peak District for the best job in the world – being a teacher!
We have an excellent track record of supporting our trainees into their first jobs – with at least 80-100% of our trainees regularly finding a job within the first month after the course (often in local schools they have made connections with).
We work with over 60 schools in Sheffield and the Peak District, providing hands-on experience in the classroom as part of your training.
We also work in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University to provide the academic training element of the course. So you get the best of both worlds – all the support and facilities for students, but your placements are in local schools where you feel part of the teaching team.
What's involved in our course?
This is a one-year course, which combines academic training at Sheffield Hallam University with two placements in local schools. So you get the best of both worlds - the support and services for students, plus the experience of being part of the teaching team in schools.
What do you gain?
Our training provides trainees with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) including 60 Masters’ credits and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

We support you with your application and interview preparation. Plus, with over 60 local schools in our network, we have excellent contacts and do our best to highlight upcoming opportunities.
Co-ordinated by our team at an Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ school in Sheffield, we support you through every stage.
We are currently recruiting for our next cohort of trainees, who will begin their training in September 2019.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring check in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and the Police Act Regulations.

We are looking for candidates who have the potential to be an outstanding teacher with a passion for your subject, to have sound subject knowledge and an understanding of educational context in the UK.
We also welcome applications that can demonstrate: good written English, resilience, enthusiasm, confidence, the ability to be reflective and emotional intelligence. We expect you to be aware of the professionalism required to teach and demonstrate your empathy and understanding when considering how a child develops.
Our minimum entry requirements are:
- A UK honours degree preferably at classification 2:2 or above or a recognised equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area.
- GCSE English, Maths and Science at Grade C/4 or above or equivalent - you must have these at the time of applying.
- You must also successfully complete pre-entry skills tests in numeracy and literacy.
- Candidates who are successful will demonstrate a sound understanding of teaching and how children learn, where possible within a school setting. We encourage all candidates to evidence their understanding by drawing on related examples or experiences, such as time spent in schools or other learning settings. Demonstrating an ability to make links between experience and knowledge, and their proposed career would be desirable.
