Job overview

IBSTOCK PLACE SCHOOL

Trainee Teacher of Computing

Autumn Term 2022

This role reflects the School’s growing commitment both to the subject of Computer Science and the early career development of outstanding new entrants to the profession. The successful candidate will likely be either an early career teacher who has recently completed a PGCE or the holder of an excellent Computer Science degree with an interest in working towards Qualified Teacher Status with the School’s support. Reporting to the Head of Computing, the successful candidate will play a significant part in the development and delivery of our curricular Computing programme across our Senior School, from Year 7 upwards.

Amongst their responsibilities, they will be supported in contributing to the GCSE Computer Science course and will also play a key role in the development of the new A Level Computer Science programme, which will first be taught from September 2022. They will also likely take a role in the array of co-curricular activities we run in the field of Computing. As such, they will join a dynamic department at an exciting time in the School’s development, during which we seek to make digital learning an ever-more prominent part of our curriculum and our pupils’ experience.

All members of staff have a pastoral role within the School and are required to participate in its co-curricular programme, thus enabling them to share their skills and expertise in areas not covered within curriculum time.

Information about the post is available to download in our applicant information pack.

The completed application form, together with a CV and a covering letter addressed to the Headmaster, should be posted to the School or emailed to recruitment@ibstockplaceschool.co.uk, as soon as possible.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Ibstock Place School is an independent co-educational day school for pupils aged 4 to 18. The school occupies a ten-acre site on the edge of Richmond Park in South West London.

An urban location with a beautiful botanical feel, Ibstock is the perfect home for scholarly exploration and adventure. Championing co-education since our founding in 1896, we have created a diverse environment that reflects real-world communities and workplaces.

Our school is over subscribed, with assessed entry at the age of four for Kindergarten (Reception). There is a competitive entry examination at the age of eleven and most pupils in the Prep School proceed on into the Senior School.
