BAE SYSTEMS Strategic Aerospace Services WLL in Qatar has an exciting opportunity to join to Qatar Technical Institute (QTI) at Al Udeid Air Base as English Language Instructor.

The primary role of the English Language Instructor is to support the creation and maintenance of the TI’s English language program. The English Language Instructor will support the implementation and ongoing review of the English Language curriculum, whilst ensuring a consistent approach to delivery, across the entire English department. 

The role will engage in regular feedback engagements with Senior and Chief Instructors in support of a culture of continuous improvement. Leading by example, the English Language Instructor must demonstrate a commitment to Continuous Professional Development and Continuous Improvement initiatives within the Technical Institute. 

Key aspects of the English Instructor include: 

• Effective delivery of the curriculum in accordance with relevant policies and procedures within the TI. 

• Ensuring the military students make good progress as measured against the Common European Framework of Reference for Language. 

• Supporting development of the department and instructors using a variety of approaches such as identifying CPD opportunities, providing in-house training, supporting team-teaching initiatives and performing lesson observations. 

• Supporting a culture of reflection, improvement and passion for teaching in the department with a can-do attitude 

• Work collaboratively with academic team to provide students with the best chance of success in the Foundation Phase of training. 

• Support the Academic Manager in developing new and improved ways of working as well as the development of solutions for Higher Education programs. 

• Regularly report student progress, attendance and behaviour to TI management and other stakeholders

Core Activity: 

• Teaching English to Qatar Military cadets in preparation for Engineering programs. 

• Deliver lessons using a variety of differentiated instructional techniques that are appropriate to the academic level and meet the diverse needs of students. 

• Designing purposeful and appropriate lesson material to ensure effective teaching strategies that meet the individual needs of students. 

• Prepare, select and use teaching-learning materials for Qatar Military students (including the use of textbooks and in-house materials). 

• Assess students and provide both formative and summative evaluations. 

• Provide oral and written feedback to students. 

• Adopt and maintain reasonable rules of classroom behaviour and ensure they are consistently applied. 

• Carry out administrative and record-keeping tasks within the Technical Institute Learning Management System, ensuring all student data is capture and configured appropriately. 

• Support course and module development, implementation and ongoing review. 

• Provide teaching cover in the event of unplanned absence of colleagues. 

• Provide support to all students, throughout the learning journey within the Technical Institute. 

• To set and mark both formative and summative coursework, liaising with the the Standard and Examinations team as necessary and keeping reliable records of scores achieved within the Learning Management System. 

Qualifications/Functional Knowledge:

Required: 

• Holds appropriate teaching qualification e.g. CELTA, DELTA etc. 

• Degree qualified in relevant discipline. 

• 2+ Years of teaching experience. 

• Experience of teaching English to international students in a range of contexts. 

• Ensuring all staff within the English Language department understand 

• Ability to use learning technologies in the classroom and for students to access for self-study. 

Desirable: 

• Ability to teach IT, mathematics, or science or a willingness to learn
