Job Title: Travel Training Coordinator 

Salary: £20,655 - £23,256 

Contract: Indefinite, full-time

About the Role:  City of Bristol College are looking to appoint a Travel Training Coordinator to be responsible for a team of travel buddies (people with learning difficulties and autism, and wider college students who will be acting as travel buddies as their work experience placement).  

The purpose of the role is: 

- To establish a cost effective and sustainable travel training programme to meet the needs of young people with learning difficulties and autism, in line with stated EHCP outcomes. 

- To provide leadership, coordination and to oversee the day to day running of the college’s travel training programme. 

- To promote skills, knowledge and wellbeing by providing excellent support to individuals and groups of people that enables them to achieve shared and individual outcomes through joint enterprise. 

- To carry out ongoing assessment and monitoring to report on the impact of the travel training programme.  The successful candidate will be: 

- Educated to degree level or equivalent.  

- Experience of project management and delivering results. 

- Experience of providing leadership and supervision to staff (travel buddies) and volunteers through coaching, supervision, appraisal and performance management. 

- A understanding of the SEN Code of Practice, Preparing for Adulthood themes and how outcomes in Education, Health and Care plans need to be met through target setting and progress monitoring. 

- An understanding of how independent travel can transform the lives of young people with learning difficulties and disabilities. 

- A thorough understanding of the role of record keeping and tracking in data collection and audit compliance. 

- Experience of innovation in the delivery of additional support services that met individual need. 

- Experience of working within budget constraints to maximise efficiency.  

Nice to have but not essential:  

- A recognised educational / management qualification or other professional qualification relevant to the role.  

- A specialist qualification in some aspect of Additional Support or related field 

- An understanding of the wider work of the college and an interest in involving other students in the travel buddy project. 

- A detailed understanding of barriers to effective student participation, and how to tackle such barriers, with specific understanding of the role of coaching in motivating and challenging learners.
