Job overview

Based in Haverhill, Suffolk (covering four geographical hubs).

The Samuel Ward Multi-Academy Trust is a highly regarded, expanding partnership of schools located on the Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire borders, currently 8,000 pupils in 19 schools. As part of our development, we are seeking to strengthen the Trust's leadership at the highest level by appointing a talented and commercially astute Director of Finance.

As a key member of the Trust's central executive team, you will be fully involved in strategic decision making to set the future course of the Trust, providing advice to the Trust's Board of Directors and leadership in all financial matters. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work closely with senior leadership colleagues to promote, underpin and sustain the Trust's teaching and learning objectives.

As Principal Accounting Officer, you will also ensure robust financial governance in line with DfE and other statutory and Trust requirements.

You will have a record of sustained success at a senior level in financial management. An understanding of strategic leadership in schools and knowledge of academy accounting practices would be helpful but more important is the ability to understand the education financial environment and apply expertise to achieve positive results.
