SAST is a strong and ambitious Trust of both primary and secondary schools seeking to ensure an excellent and sustainable 0-19 education for children within our community across West and North Dorset as well as South Somerset. The Trust now consists of 5000 children and over 850 staff working in our 17 schools and shared services teams.


We are seeking a skilled and experienced Estates Technician to provide quality general maintenance support for our trust schools. The post holder must be willing to undertake a mobile role to perform general maintenance duties, compliance testing, and emergency response as required. Working as part of a wider trust-wide estates team delivering exceptional services.

We are looking to appoint an exceptional Mobile Estates Technician to join the team and support the delivery of Estates/Facilities provision across the trust. This is a new role to support an exciting period of growth for the Trust and evolution of its Estates function.  Senior leaders are currently evaluating the benefits of further growth of a centralised team, and this role will be a key appointment in leading this change and ensuring the delivery of a high performing Estates team.  

 

  The successful candidate will: 

  • Promote and support the vision and values of the Trust 
  • Have proven experience and expertise in a caretaker/estates technician role with competency in a range of DIY skills and use of electrical DIY tools
  • Be motivated and have the ability to work independently to manage workload
  • Be customer-focused and resourceful to provide excellent customer service
  • Have a working knowledge of health and safety procedures in an estates maintenance context.
  • Be willing to work in a mobile role across several trust schools
  • Have high expectations, an interest in education and want to make a difference


This role will be varied and rewarding. The postholder will be supported by an experienced Trust-wide estates team and school head teachers. We are looking for an estates technician with high expectations, generalist maintenance and DIY experience and expertise, able to communicate and develop relationships effectively, resourceful, whilst enjoying the challenges of this role. You need to be a team player, you will go the extra mile to support schools, staff and students. In return, you will join a Trust that is full of activity, opportunity and optimism.
