Job overview

We are seeking to appoint Maths and English Tutors to provide additional learning for our pupils. Suitable candidates will have previous experience working in educational settings and have the capacity to commit to timetabled sessions with small progress groups.

This opportunity is suitable for candidates who are considering a career in education or considering a return to the classroom. Full training and support will be provided.

About The Marlborough Church of England School

The Marlborough Church of England School is a mixed secondary state academy with sixth form situated in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, and is attended by more than 1,000 pupils. The school is named after the Duke of Marlborough, whose ancestral home is the nearby Blenheim Palace. It was rated "good" in its most recent Ofsted inspection.

The Marlborough C of E School was founded in 1939. Recent additions include the Marlborough Enterprise Centre, which opened in 2007 and features a theatre, cinema and conference centre. A new science centre was opened in 2010. The school received a British Council International School Award in both 2009-2012 and 2012-2015.

“All students make good progress from their starting points. Most teaching is good and some is outstanding. Teachers’ subject knowledge is strong and lessons are well planned. The sixth form is good. Students are well supported to make informed choices about their next steps in education, training or employment. Very varied and effective opportunities are given for students to develop their spiritual, social, moral and cultural awareness. As a result, students work very well together, and relationships are harmonious and respectful."
