Job overview

Unit Manager - Lincoln and District Events unit

As Unit Manager you will be responsible for the overall management of your St John Ambulance Events unit. You will do this by leading meetings, organising first aid cover at events and other community activities. This is done through working with a team of functional leads (Events, Training) within the unit leadership team and with all the adult volunteers in the unit.  You will actively participate in the recruitment, training and retention of the volunteers in your unit. You will ensure that they have a positive and rewarding experience in St John Ambulance, by equipping them with the necessary skills to fulfil our vision; ‘Everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them. No one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.’ This role is ideal for someone who has some management experience and wants to enhance their skills while doing invaluable work. This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act. For more information please contact District Manager, Peter Howie

The closing date for this post is 28 March 2018 and interviews will be week commencing 16 April 2018.

About St John Ambulance (SJA)

At St John Ambulance we believe everyone should get the chance to learn how to save a life, so that whenever a first aid emergency occurs, whether in the home, workplace or community, someone is on hand with the skills to help.

Every year, 400,000 people learn first aid through our training programmes, including hundreds of thousands of young people. Our volunteers provide first aid in their communities, keeping people safe at events, and working alongside the NHS in response to 999 calls. We generate around £100m per annum which we reinvest in delivering and campaigning for better access to first aid for everyone. By doing this, we can give people the chance to learn basic first aid skills that they wouldn't otherwise get the opportunity to learn.

First aid is such a simple skill, but it has an incredible impact.

We want everyone to learn it, so that they can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.
