Job overview

We are looking to appoint an outstanding unqualified teacher to work with a child who has ADHD with complex social and emotional needs. The successful candidate must:

  • Have experience supporting/teaching children with complex needs.
  • have a vision and passion for teaching and learning;
  • be an outstanding and enthusiastic classroom practitioner with a sense of humour;
  • be able to demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills;

Our Academy is inclusive, with the highest academic standards; we will take children from all backgrounds and give them the knowledge, skills and confidence to flourish. The happiness, well-being and success of our pupils is at the centre of everything we do. David Livingstone Academy part of STEP Academy Trust seeks staff who believe in the Trust’s Values of: Passion — Working in education, we have the ability to profoundly change children’s lives; the stakes are incredibly high. Our aim should always be to provide for the pupils of our Academies what we would want for our own children. Urgency — The amount of time children spend in education is finite. We have a responsibility to ensure every moment a child is in a STEP Academy must be spent productively. Once wasted, it is gone forever and cannot be given back.

Positivity — Staff have a responsibility to be positive and supportive of each other. Negativity leads to low expectations and a culture where excuses are tolerated.

Aspiration — Embodied in the Trust motto, “Striving Together for Excellence in Partnership,” all members of staff aim for excellence in their individual professional roles. Commitment — Staff are prepared to go the extra mile to provide the best possible education for their pupils. The interests of children are always placed ahead of those of staff.

Staff who have been identified as at risk of redundancy due to proposed restructures at their schools are welcome to apply for this post as part of the redeployment process before the post is made available to other internal STEP staff who are not at risk and external candidates.

Visits to the academy are welcomed and can be arranged by contacting the Academy Business Manager at ngillespie@davidlivingstone.croydon.sch.uk

David Livingstone Academy is more than a school. It’s a diverse, happy family. So join us and enjoy all the benefits of working for STEP academies.

Striving for excellence

David Livingstone Academy is a vibrant and dynamic school. We are very proud of our family ethos, strong and supportive community and passion for learning through the Arts. We always strive for excellence in everything we do and have received many awards including Healthy Schools Gold Award, Artsmark, Inclusion Mark and International Award.

Top 10% of schools

Our Key Stage 2 achievement is significantly above the national average, placing us in the top 10% of schools. Key Stage 2 attainment from starting points is excellent, and our Early Years attainment is above national. Progress is generally outstanding for all groups of pupils and we are pleased that 100% of our parents feel that their child makes good progress with us.

A Rights Respecting School

We provide an environment where pupils feel safe, valuable and respected. We are a Rights Respecting School and create many opportunities for children to take leading roles throughout the school, meaning David Livingstone pupils become very confident and self-assured individuals.

Location

Croydon is well connected being just 15 minutes by train into central London. It’s also part of the tram network and the town is on the outskirts of the M25.
