We are seeking to appoint a motivated, skilled and resilient Unqualified Teacher with experience and/or a strong interest in supporting young people.  It is a class-based role working with students aged 11-16; supporting them in lessons and managing their behaviour. You are not required to have a particular subject specialism but would need good English and communication skills and be comfortable supporting any subject on the national curriculum. All qualifications and experience will be considered as well as confident graduates with experience of working with young people.

The Rural Enterprise Academy is a free school with a specialised curriculum focused around the environment and land-based sectors. Our pupils choose us as they have an interest in these areas and potentially want to develop a career from this interest. We offer a broad and ambitious curriculum to all our pupils which is focused on preparing them for their future career choices as well as challenging and informing them about current issues within these sectors.

The Rural Enterprise Academy is a truly unique secondary rooted in a safe rural setting just south of Penkridge, Staffordshire. We engage in a full and challenging environmentally focussed curriculum across key stages 3 and 4. From September 2022 we are delighted to be admitting 60 students into Year 7 and a further 60 into Year 9. From September 2022 we will be admitting to Year 7 only, unless there are spaces available in other year groups.

Values and vision

Our learners study a broad and balanced curriculum, based upon the national curriculum, but with a specific environmental focus throughout. They are able to study through a blend of indoor and outdoor learning across our specialist campus with access to fantastic facilities such as a fishery, horticulture facilities and equine centre. We offer a wide range of qualifications at BTEC and GSCE backed up by a comprehensive careers guidance programme.

Students will join us for either Year 7 or Year 9 and will stay with us for their secondary education to Year 11. From this point many students will choose to join our Academy Trust’s sixth form provision based at Wolgarston High School or move into specialist learning or apprenticeships at college.
