Job overview

Recently established (2020), and enjoying early expansion, Mandarin International School (MIS) is one of the newest international schools in the vibrant city of Bangkok. MIS brings together the best of the East and the West and is committed to academic excellence through the delivery of both the Chinese and English national curricula.

The school is committed to a ‘mastery’ approach to education aiming to ensure that all students have truly mastered key concepts before moving on to the next stage of learning.

MIS offers the successful candidate an exciting opportunity to work with a team of teachers from our English, Mandarin and Thai programmes - teachers who strive to develop the school and make an impact on student progress.

MIS provides all-round education with a strong belief that education is for life, enabling our students to develop critical thinking and acquire valuable skills which they will need in order to excel in a changing world.

Job Purpose

The specialist Teacher of Mathematics will play a significant role in the development of the MIS Lower Secondary School, as we expand from already successful EYFS and Primary provision. The person in role will continue to encourage our focus on Mathematics inside and outside of the classroom, making learning a relevant environment for students.  As well as developing the teaching and learning of Mathematics throughout Key Stage 3 it would be a requirement for the successful applicant to teach specialist Mathematics to Upper Key Stage 2 (year 5 and Year 6) classes.

The postholder will be required to help develop the direction of the KS3 syllabus across the subject range. Special consideration for our focus on STEAM will be encouraged as we are looking to develop this transdisciplinary approach in the curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher wishing to leave their mark on a school.

We wish to develop the internal focus of Mathematics amongst students and would like the successful candidate to join our established Mandarin Mathematics specialists in organising in-school events and competitions to help raise the profile of Maths.
