Job overview

Upper Primary Teacher

Panyathip International School - The British International School in Laos, is looking for an Upper Primary Class Teacher for our newly opened primary campus in Vientiane.

Panyathip International School is widely regarded as an ambitious school as it develops and grows. The School's Vision  "Become the Best that You can Be" is its guiding principle and recent developments have shown what that means in practical ways. These include the opening of a purpose-built Primary Campus, just a few minutes from the Secondary School where the Primary School used to be housed.

In many ways, just like on our other campuses,  the Primary School is like a large family; students and staff are seen as individuals and classes are small allowing the team to have a strong collegial approach. By and large our students are keen to learn. Facilities in our brand new campus include a swimming pool, covered court, school hall, canteen on site (and cafe just outside the school gates);  each class is housed in its own classroom and there are specialist areas for music, art and IT.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is comfortable in teaching upper KS2 students. Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum of England and the IPC. Whilst experience is preferred - we want teachers who are flexible, willing to learn but with passion for teaching and who will inspire our students - so if that is you we encourage you to apply even if you are new to teaching. An understanding of differentiation as well as students for whom English is a second language will be advantageous.

Vientiane is the capital of Laos which is separated from Thailand by the mighty Mekong river. The border with Thailand is not far over the 'Friendship Bridge' where there are further amenities.

Vientiane itself seems more like a large town rather than the seat of government. It is safe and people are friendly. There are cafes and restaurants and a range of different cultural opportunities available in the city or nearby. The airport provides easy access to neighbouring countries and within Laos, for example, the UNESCO World Heritage destination of Luang Prabang is less than an hour away by plane. (The really adventurous can travel there by road or river - though both take a little longer).

For those with a sense of adventure Vientiane is an ideal location to be - and this is a particularly good time to join us as 2018 is Visit Laos Year with lots of cultural and other events.

Panyathip International School - The British International School in Laos, is a well-established International School having been founded in the Academic Year 2001-2002. From one Campus with a small number of students the school has grown to  5 Campuses in Laos.

The School was initially registered as a Private Education Institute by the Ministry of Education and Sports as a Bilingual School as it offered both an English as well as Lao programme, but has now gained the recognition as The British International School in Laos. Over the 17 years, we have grown from a small primary school with an enrolment of 60+ students to the current school enrolment of 1,000+ students, from the Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary, at the four campuses in Vientiane as well as one campus in Savannakhet.
