Job overview

ACS International Schools are looking for a Maths Challenge Teacher for ACS Hillingdon for a one year contract. This role work as part of the Upper School Maths Department team, teaching throughout the Upper School. The role of the Maths Challenge Teacher is to work with groups of capable students to extend, deepen and enrich their understanding of topics covered within the curriculum and help to increase levels of engagement and achievement in Maths throughout the school.

The role will require knowledge of the Maths curriculum across the Upper School range and an understanding of how to enrich it in engaging ways. Small groups of students will be pulled out of classes to extend understanding of topics - these groups will not remain static and will come from existing classes. In some cases, however, the teacher may have small groups who need an alternative curriculum due to earlier acceleration. The teacher will also be expected to share good practice with colleagues in the department, helping to build their capacity to improve student learning, engagement and achievement in Maths.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree from an internationally-recognised university/college.
  • Teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
  • Successful classroom teacher experience in the relevant age group.
  • Experience of teaching A levels or the IBDP is preferable.
