Located in the parkland of Tervuren, we enjoy world class facilities set within an inspiring green campus, yet near all the amenities of the university city of Leuven and the capital city of Brussels. But it isn’t just our leafy grounds or our world-class facilities that make our school an exceptional place to learn and grow. What really sets us apart are the relationships we build, the culture of kinship we foster and the pursuit of quality in everything that we do.

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced teachers who can bring a real enthusiasm to the school.  Applicants must have the qualities to successfully lead the IB Diploma Programme and support the Heads of Year 11-13 to ensure consistency of provision and support for students transferring into the senior section of the school.

The Role

Students in Year 11 work towards (I)GCSE qualifications and are supported by the Head of Year 11.  The Heads of Year rotate through Years 8-11 in Secondary to build strong relationships with students and this role will support the Head of Year 11 and the Deputy Head (Curriculum) with student option choices and transition support and advice.  As the IB coordinator you will lead all academic areas of the programme while also supporting the Heads of Year 12 and 13 in curriculum areas of the A-level and BTEC programmes such as helping students when course changes are needed.  This is an important role in the Secondary school to ensure smooth transition for students and consistency of experience to ensure the best learning for students.

  • work closely with colleagues in creating a sense of cohesion and collaborative spirit within the Year Teams and co-operate with colleagues across Faculties and throughout the School;

  • be willing and able to contribute actively and wholeheartedly to the social and personal development of students and to the extra-curricular life of the school including trips and Enrichment;
  • be a colleague who will be excited by the opportunity to develop this new role and be happy to take on significant responsibility within an environment and ethos of openness and distributed leadership.

  • be attuned to current developments in the exam programmes, particularly with the IBDP;

The Person:

About The British School of Brussels

Established for over 50 years BSB is a non-selective all-through international school with 1,350 students from 70 nationalities aged from 1-18 years. We are the only school in Belgium to offer three pre-university routes: A Levels, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and BTEC vocational courses in Business, Sports and Hospitality. Our Primary curriculum offers a bespoke, skills-based, inquiry-driven approach adapted from the UK national curriculum to meet the needs of our diverse student population.

While academic results are important, one of our main aims is to create a values-driven community which promotes a healthy, vibrant, and progressive culture of care, collaboration, and respect. We want to inspire and motivate responsible, engaged students who have respect for themselves and each other and engage actively, ethically, and purposefully with the world around us. Our governance, leadership, staff, curriculum, and facilities all work in support of this philosophy.

BSB is recognised as one of the top performing schools in the world and has received numerous awards for our work including Spears school of the year 2023.
