This post has come about due to the continued growth of the academy and is not for the faint-hearted.  You will need considerable resilience and an unrelenting focus in making this school great.  We want to be able to rightly claim that students have better life chances because they come here rather than in spite of us.  

You need a will to win and the emotional intelligence to cope with the mundane, the strategic and every shade in between.  

The P8 for 2017 was considerably better than for 2016 showing about half a grade per student per subject improvement and outcomes for 2018 are looking much improved from this rising trend.  

If you can take ownership of whole school areas of responsibility, drive up standards in a challenging setting, turn a strategic plan into reality and proving improvement, then consider a pivotal role at AVA.  

The Academy is sponsored by the Diocese of Oxford.  

Areas of responsibility will be agreed in consultation with the successful applicants and as part of the overall review of SLT responsibilities.  The person appointed will be an excellent teacher who is passionate about learning and have the drive and ability to lead and manage a team of professionals.  

You will have a proven track record of raising standards and a clear vision for continuous improvement.  You will need to demonstrate strategic leadership and management skills and have the energy and ambition to take the Academy through its next phase of development.  You will be an engaging, visible leader and will possess the gravitas required to win the respect of staff, students and parents.
